Biological monitoring in Tokyo (June 28, 2014)

Biological monitoring at Tokyo Metropolitan Park

I visited Tokyo Metropolitan Park to see biological impacts of Fukushima No.1 nuclear power plant accident. Though I have visited various places in Japan to see the health consequence of the accident, I have never found any effect against creatures in Japan.
Now, summer has come in Japan. We can see various insects at Tokyo Metropolitan Park. As Japanese boys love bug hunting, we often see them collecting various bugs at every park. Especially they want to hunt beetles or stag beetles. Generally speaking, bug's growth is so fast than human beings that they are more sensitive to radioactive materials of the environment than us.
So I visited some parks to see effects of the accident against bugs which were grown up in Japan. Fortunately, I could see them grown up safely and I couldn't find any impact of the accident. It seems that there is no problem for childbirth and child-rearing in Tokyo Japan.

This kind of deformity often occurs in nature. It is known ever before the nuclear power plant accident. So I think it has no relation to the accident.

小型のカブトムシは昔から日本にいます。
Sometimes, we can find small beetles in Japan. I think they have existed from long time ago. Because I have heard that there were such a small beetle before the accident.

3 years have passed since Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident. I have visited various places of Japan to see the health consequence of the accident.
Fortunately I have never found any impacts by the accident among Japanese creatures. As far as I know, nobody has health problem which is caused by the accident in Japan.
Our Prime Minister Abe assures that "The situation is under control. The influence of the contaminated water is completely blocked within Fukushima. There are no health-related problems until now and there will never be health problems." He also said that "Tokyo is 250 kilometers away from Fukushima, and the kind of danger that you imagine does not exist in Tokyo. Tokyo is a very safe city."
As PM Abe said, Tokyo is very far away from Fukushima and people in Tokyo have no concern about the nuclear power plant accident. People in Tokyo have already forgotten the accident, because they think radioactive materials cannot reach there.
We know there is no problem for child birth and child rearing in Tokyo. So people in Tokyo are living without any concern about the accident.
I continue to visit various places in Japan to see the effects of the accident, because I can meet various creatures which are more sensitive to radioactive materials from the environment. It is important to see their health for our safety.

Biological monitoring in Kanagawa (June 27, 2014)

Biological monitoring at Enoshima Aquarium

I visited Enoshima Aquarium to see biological impacts of Fukushima No.1 nuclear power plant accident. Though I have visited various places in Japan to see the health consequences of the accident, I have never found any effect against creatures in Japan.
Enoshima Aquarium is located in Fujisawa, Kanagawa Prefecture, near Shonan's Sagami Bay. It has beautiful views of the floating island of Enoshima and Mt. Fuji, making it an ideal place to exhibit the diversity of Sagami Bay's environment and world-class research on the region's marine wildlife. Enoshima Aquarium shows us not only various kinds of marine creatures but also entertains people with marine animal shows.
Generally speaking, marine animal's growths are so fast than human beings that they are more sensitive to radioactive materials of the environment than us.
So I visited Enoshima Aquarium to see effects of the accident against marine creatures which are grown up by Japanese food and water.
Fortunately, I could see them grown up safely and I couldn't find any impact of the accident. It seems that there is no problem for childbirth and child-rearing in Kanagawa Japan.

This new white observation tower was renovated in April 2003 after half a century, and has become a new landmark on the highest point of Enoshima Island. It is 59.8m high and at 119.6m above sea-level, you can enjoy a fantastic 360 degree panoramic view.
