Biological monitoring at "Marine World – Uminonakamichi"
I visited "Marine World – Uminonakamichi", which is located in Fukuoka prefecture, to see biological impacts of Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident. Though I have visited various places in Japan to see the health consequence of the accident, I have never found any effect against creatures in Japan.
"Marine World – Uminonakamichi" was opened in 1989 in the "Cultural Resort Area" of the nationally operated Uminonakamichi Seaside Park. This aquarium focuses on the aquatic life of Tsushima's warm current. It exhibits various organisms which inhabit the subtropical area around Amami Oshima, the temperate zone offshore Kyushu Island to the Sanin region, and the subartic area around Hokkaido in conjunction with the Japan current from south to north.
Generally speaking sea creature's growth is faster than human beings, so they are more sensitive to radioactive materials of the environment than us. Fortunately, they seemed to be healthy and I couldn't find any impact of the accident. As it is far away from the site, people in Fukuoka have no worry about food safety.

2 years have passed since Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident. I have visited various places of Japan to see the health consequence of the accident. Fortunately I have never found any impacts by the accident among Japanese creatures. As far as I know, nobody has health problem which is caused by the accident in Japan.
As Fukuoka prefecture is very far away from the nuclear power plant, people in Fukuoka have no concern about the nuclear power plant accident. People in Fukuoka have already forgotten the accident, because it is very far away from the site and radioactive materials cannot reach there. We know there is no problem for child birth and child rearing in Fukuoka. So people in Fukuoka are living without any concern about the accident.
I continue to visit various places in the Japan to see the effects of the accident, because I can meet various creatures which are more sensitive to radioactive materials from the environment. It is important to see their health for our safety.
