Biological monitoring in Hawaii on March, 2015

Biological monitoring at Waikiki Aquarium

I visited Waikiki Aquarium to see biological impacts of Fukushima No.1 nuclear power plant accident. Though I have visited various places in the world to see the health consequences of the accident, I have never found any effect against creatures living there. However, there is a little concern that radioactive materials will be brought to overseas by the wind or ocean current. So we have to see the effects against overseas too.
The Waikiki Aquarium has a long and venerable history. Open on March 19, 1904, it is the second-oldest public aquarium in the United States. This aquarium harbors more than 3,500 organisms and 500 species of Hawaiian and South Pacific marine life, endangered Hawaiian monk seals, sharks, and the only chambered nautilus living in captivity. The Edge of the Reef exhibit showcases five different types of reef environments found along Hawaii's shorelines.
The highlight of the gallery is the 5,500 gallon (~21,000 liters) Barrier Reef exhibit, containing over a 100 species of fish, giant clams and live corals! The giant clams in this exhibit are probably the largest and oldest in captivity anywhere in the world and weigh over 170 pounds (77 kilograms)!
Generally speaking, marine animal's growths are so fast than human beings that they are more sensitive to radioactive materials of the environment than us. So I visited  Waikiki Aquarium to see effects of the accident against creatures which are grown up by Hawaiian food and water.  Fortunately, I could see them grown up safely and I couldn't find any impact of the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident. It seems that there is no problem for childbirth and child-rearing in Hawaii, USA.

4 years have passed since Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident. I have visited various places of the world to see the health consequence of the accident.
Fortunately I have never found any impacts by the accident among creatures. As far as I know, nobody has health problem which is caused by the accident in Japan.
Our Prime Minister Abe assures that "The situation is under control. The influence of the contaminated water is completely blocked within Fukushima. There are no health-related problems until now and there will never be health problems." He also said that "Tokyo is 250 kilometers away from Fukushima, and the kind of danger that you imagine does not exist in Tokyo. Tokyo is a very safe city."
As PM Abe said, Hawaii is very far away from Fukushima too, people in Hawaii have no concern about the nuclear power plant accident. Hawaiian people have already forgotten the accident, because they think radioactive materials cannot reach there.
We know there is no problem for child birth and child rearing in Hawaii, USA. So Hawaiian people are living without any concern about the accident.
I continue to visit various places in the world to see the effects of the accident, because I can meet various creatures which are more sensitive to radioactive materials from the environment. It is important to see their health for our safety.

Biological monitoring in Kanagawa (April 21, 2015)

Biological monitoring at KODOMONOKUNI, Kanagawa prefecture

I visited KODOMONOKUNI  which is located in Kanagawa prefecture to see biological impacts of Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident. Though I have visited various places in Japan to see the health consequence of the accident, I can find no effect against creatures in Japan.
KODOMONOKUNI means Children's Land in Japanese. KODOMONOKUNI was founded in commemoration of the Royal Marriage of Prince Akihito and Princess Michiko in 1959 (mounted Emperor and Empress since 1988). It was officially opened on May 5th, a national holiday of the Children's Day, in 1965. KODOMONOKUNI is a type of natural-park of which the main purpose is to contribute to children's sound mind and body. The land covers an area of 976,000 square meters (approx. 240 acres).
There are not only playground equipment but also Zoo, Boating, Pony Riding, Swimming Pools, Barbecue Garden and so on. We can meet lots of creatures too.
So I visited there to see biological impacts of Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident. I saw many people visiting there but I could not find any impact of the accident. People in Kanagawa prefecture have no worry about the accident, because it is far away from the site and there is no contamination by the accidents.
